strengthening Christian communities in the Middle East

Quote:A Catholic conference aimed at strengthening Christian communities in the Middle East opens in the Vatican Sunday.

The gathering follows a warning from the Catholic Church that "with the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, attacks against Christians are increasing almost everywhere."

"Oftentimes, relations between Christians and Muslims are difficult, principally because Muslims make no distinction between religion and politics," the Church said in June in outlining the purpose of the Synod of Bishops Special Assembly for the Middle East. source:

such hypocrisy (the line in bold) they should come to the Philippines where the Catholics and Christians have more say in the government than the politicians. the Catholics run their own country for god sake (excuse the pun)

all i can say is good luck on bringing Catholicism and Christianity to the middle east. i think it's one of the sure fire ways of igniting more conflict than we already have. Dodgy

doesn't make

less true.
i agree but it's a bit hypocritical if you consider christianity more or less shaped the western world via politics. at the end of the day, both religions want to rule the world, one way or another. christianity slagging down islam just makes me laugh

It doesn't make it less true but it undermines your credibility when you claim to want peace.

The truth is the Catholic Church gets off on persecution (as both victim and perpetrator).

And the same can be said for most if not all other religions.
"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool."

i think the catholic church is losing too many followers. it has to recruit in the middle east as it's already declining in many countries. all it has left is the middle east and asia.
