Hi Paul,
I was kind of struggling to find the meaning in this and the best I had for a while was a possible reference to blood diamonds especially with the word 'mine' in there as well. But just this moment I've read the 'dubious' news and noticed that the lovely Lindsay Lohan is battling mosquito virus after falling ill on holiday in French Polynesia, the poor thing... the mosquito, that is. Am I getting closer to the truth???
Either way, I'm still looking at that word slap bang in the middle of your poem and thinking soon mosquito will indeed be 'Flatter'
