health care companies

just listening to the news and they said the insurers made over 8 billion last year and that was the three main ones. one of which hold 80% of patients in one states. what should be done?

the ceo of one of the companies got over 38 million in salary (1 years salary)

they said one of the biggest reasons for bankruptcy was people having to spend everything on having an illness treadet.

another reason it's so expensive is because people don't go to the doctors early on when the cost of being cured is relatively cheap. they tend to wait till it gets really bad and need really expensive to get treated.

The main critics against health care reform claim that "it's the insurance companies that will benefit most from it." And yet health insurance companies are now funding multimillion-dollar propaganda campaign against it. WTF Huh (money from the profits they bled out of people by the way...they raised premiums to astronomical heights recently, didn't they? What, to fund this stuff?)

That's some seriously twisted argument right there.
PS. If you can, try your hand at giving some of the others a bit of feedback. If you already have, thanks, can you do some more?

8 billion that's a lot of revenue to make
imagine if the profit from that was plowed back into the system.
imagine if it was non profit making and the salaries of the top brass were just good and not astronomical wages.

addy made a great point that they're taking money from us which doesn't actually supply healthcare and using it to fight the government so they can make even more money from us. some of these bastards even own the hospitals so they make even more cash. by paying themselves. something is wrong drastically wrong. it cant be totally free. those who work pay a pro rata on their earnings.
those who don't work or can't work have that payment subsidised to the point of not paying at all. i the uk everyone who works pays national health. part of this also goes towards a state pension. it's not a lot but it's something.

Canada provides tax funded health care at no individual costs to the entire population (with waiting lists for elective surgeries).
While America provides employer insured health care to around 80% of its population.

If we measure the quality of health care within nations by their life expectancy stats, then Canada is doing far better than America, and at a lower cost.

from what i've read and can see., the usa has one of the worst health care systems in the western world. (per what you get per dollar, per head)

Thats not entirly true VF as there was a new tax introduced a few years back that charges each individual a yearly premium for health care based on their earnings. They have also dropped eye exams and alot of other services over the years.
Something that I myself have discovered recently here where I live is that the hospital beds are full of elderly people that their next of kin dropped of and left. Never to come back for them because they can't afford to keep them. I was really shocked to find out that this is the reason we have no beds available for people that really need them. The medical staff is also cut way back and is a real problem for people to get care at all.
I do know that this is not an isolated case and the same exists in pretty much all of the Canadian Provence's except for Alberta. There is something wrong with a country when they send vast amounts of tax dollars to other other countries before takeing care of their own at home.
The health care system we do have may be better than other places on earth but it is by no stretch doing the job it is supposed to do and it gets worse every year. Thats just what I see with my own eyes so I am sure it is much much worse.

our health care system in the uk is supposed to provide accommodation for the elderly, hospices, staffed nursing homes, old folks homes etc. i think it succeeds to an extent though nothing is perfect. i know if i went back to the uk i'd be supplied with a house, or flat, because of my heart problems. and yep we have waiting lists. and yep we also have private insurance if you want it.

the option is there. what is does do is make sure that 99.9% of people get treated as and when they need it. if you need a heart op you may have to wait. if you need an operation you may have to wait etc. but you get seen to. if you're out of work, medicines are free. like i say it's not perfect but what is?

the cost per head is way cheaper than it is in the states.

I definitely agree with your statement billy. Most of the people prepare to treat first themselves. They didn't know that consequences after he or she didn't treated.

i think sometimes people who have to pay as go for health care, hope a little home remedy will cure what ails them. of course for the mild ailments it might, but in general it's best to get medical advice (i think)
