NO SLEEP
#1
This could be poetry or just sleep deprived spit; take it as it may. Though, if to only enhance slightly how this could be interpreted,  imagine the punchy snare of a two-step beat with your typical dubstep BPM watercoloring this. (Also, "NO SLEEP" sampled out of No Sleep Til Brooklyn):

NO SLEEP

Ambien addict
up on downers
calls a time out sheep counting sesh
but clock ticks slow
hare to the turtle
Benadryl groggy orbitals wrapped in
red hair roots
tree on the rots
peers outside outside looks back
teeth mean in the mouth
window muzzle
paranoia make of insomnia's puzzle
product of a 9-9 suicide plan
running hamster-wheel marathons on Tryptophan
and the white walls reign both sides of the planet
moon to the sun like couch to the desk like
look, blink
scene is the same?
life in prison for a few cents change?
mental intermission for a few winks gained?
bi-week pay til' the brain crawls away just
open and swallows
Normison now then C-PAP follows
Bright Light Therapy? left to the gallows
Melatonin time bomb blasts an answer
NO SLEEP
troglodyte upright left to the sun
battles with the rabble of psychobabble nuns like
see a bed of rulers going down upon the noggin'
til' he gives into his penance with a buckshot scolding

Lortab punk
upped on Spray Paint
marches to the sniff of a different Jenkem tank
Methadone prone
downed from agony
fire-walker stalks through street's uncertainty
mole to the day
eyes caked shut
snip that scissor jimmy opens his slots
sunlight pours in
salt on the wound
beggar of a lighter fire in this afternoon
like a Bic lit Incense Stick in the board
just wafts in nirvana on a Codeine tour
Vicodin candy clumped in bags
lines this dope's lair like spider egg sacs just
look, blink
infestation
RX Bottles contain elation
Water-bong Shisha Coal persuasion
an Opiate Box projects the station of
US trouble
REM economy? out in the rubble
tranquil nights? Syringe daily double
re-run enthusiast chants the mantra
NO SLEEP
proud pin cushion with a taste of the edge
teeter-on-a-totters of the schizophrenic ledge like
see a ballerina jump a plié to a dive on the
tightrope separating men from the Übermensch

The imagery made me lol
Way to serious a bit to jump into the image of jenkem use, the contrast breeds laughter.

This is a lot of fun, really captures that manic state and you cover a ton of ground. Like the above comment, so much cool imagery. Reminds me of Danny Brown's rapping though that may be the subject matter as much as the style. Nice one!

while it has rhythm and some good drug related images i found it hard to actually get into. there are some good or better than good parts. that said, after 4 or 5 reads i did get into it and enjoyed it. i found a couple of things to be to near to cliche but it's that type of poem so they kind of fit. i would have had to have worked a lot harder to get into the rhythm of the poem if the beat wasn't stated but nonetheless after a read or two the beat is evident, though i did slip up in an odd place.

the above does work though i always saw methadone as an opium substitute and sometimes as a pain killer. i can't see the relationship between glue sniffing and opium related drugs or substitutes of them. I'm sure many are googling jenkem tank (i know i did and that's okay but I'd have preferred something a little more generic.

fire-walker stalks through streets uncertainty feels to much like a pop reference [street's]
mole to the day
eyes caked shut
this is a good portrayal of many types of user.

What was the odd place?

I was thinking more of the painkiller side of it.

Chronic users of it get a wonderful case of insomnia, I bet.

Like it. Fixed.
