Reading my own work makes me face-palm,
...stupidly tap, tap, tapping away at keys.
Yet, with moderators moderating hurriedly,
I remain at ease,
deciding to stay calm;
I tell myself to breathe.
I begin to edit, loudly reciting each line,
glazed eyes seeking out written absurdities,
that I cannot seem to be able to see.
It's like I'm writing blind,
with each offered critique I agree;
perhaps the punishment should fit the authors crimes.
Yet despite my insecurities,
the promise of progress is measured in time;
thus I seek out poets with pedigrees,
for it is my work that I wish to refine.
I peruse Emily Dickinson to read,
recalling a poem titled;
'A fuzzy fellow without feet'.
For we all crawl before we can walk,
thus the cycle of learning begins.
I merely request that the mods of this forum,
do not bar me for my poetic sins.
my muse ran screaming....no really

Haha, been there, done that, except for the mod worry. As long as you're reading, thinking and attempting to help others all is well.
There's no requirement to rush into editing. I love to edit based on crit and find threads where members actively edit the most fun, but some people take the crit and wait a year, or never edit at all, that's fine too, up to the poet.
"with each offered critique I agree" made me laugh because that's me, even when the crits have opposing views. I reread crit given to me endlessly, trying to figure out what will make the piece work better. Just because I agree with the crit doesn't mean that is what is best for the poem.
Here's a bit of thrash I wrote when I first came here and started examining every word.
Editing
When my heart
is in a single word
that no one else can hear,
still, I hold on tightly
as it holds my heart,
hoping someone will hear.
Still grinning from your piece. L2 I don't think you need both letter and key.

as for mods, we're mainly here to make sure the place doesn't go to hell in a hand cart. while a few are excellent poets, some of us are way down the food chain of poetic craftsmanship

A fuzzy fellow, without feet,
Yet doth exceeding run!
Of velvet, is his Countenance,
And his Complexion, dun!
Sometime, he dwelleth in the grass!
Sometime, upon a bough,
From which he doth descend in plush
Upon the Passer-by!
All this in summer.
But when winds alarm the Forest Folk,
He taketh Damask Residence—
And struts in sewing silk!
Then, finer than a Lady,
Emerges in the spring!
A Feather on each shoulder!
You'd scarce recognize him!
By Men, yclept Caterpillar!
By me! But who am I,
To tell the pretty secret
Of the Butterfly!
Emily Dickinsom
How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?
The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.

Your banning me billy?!
At least it may stop me from posting more bad poetry...
I couldn't resist one last jab. If my 'work' doesn't get me banned, than this reply might, lol. I look forward to doing well billy. I imagine that the path to any semblance of improvement involves more face-palming, I look forward to that too ^_^
