wikileaks founder such a nice guy

In simple terms , I think he was looking to just (pardon the slang here) get laid. I mean he's a straight guy, there's nothing wrong with the want for sex. I haven't quite figured if these women were prostitutes (didn't read all articles, sorry and can't remember Blush) but I think it's pretty clear that he did not rape either of them.

Whether he wore a condom is completely irrelevant when it comes to the law (even though, I tend to agree with addy on this one) so I can say that they've nothing on him. ANd if the process fails? He's now got a pretty good argument for Defamation of his name and he could most likely take them to court if he wished to Cool.

Quote:i got a laugh from this in the first link;

These Wikileaks volunteers are realizing that Assange's whining about the Swedish prosecutor making public his name in the case doesn't fit their ethos of radical transparency. When Amnesty International sent Wikileaks a letter asking them to take more care in future leaks to protect Afghan informants, Assange reportedly responded: "I'm very busy and have no time to deal with people who prefer to do nothing but cover their asses." WikiLeaks activists probably worry that's not the response of someone who fancies himself the ultimate arbiter of Truth and Light. Perhaps they realize that Wikileaks—at heart a very exciting journalistic innovation—is in danger of becoming a punchline: "The Julian Assange Show."

and this in the 2nd;

Quote:After Julian Assange's sexual entanglement with two Swedish ladies, we asked if the Wikileaks founder might be a "nerdy sex God." It turns out he very much is, if his own deleted blog entries are to be believed.

so much for openess, why does he delete shit?

i also found this amusing ;

source;

Quote:"We have seen the negative, sometimes deadly ramifications for those Afghans identified as working for or sympathizing with international forces," the human-rights groups wrote in their letter, according to a person familiar with it. "We strongly urge your volunteers and staff to analyze all documents to ensure that those containing identifying information are taken down or redacted."

In his response to the letter signed by the human-rights organizations, Mr. Assange asked what the groups were doing to analyze the documents already published, and asked whether Amnesty in particular would provide staff to help redact the names of Afghan civilians, according to people familiar with the letter.

billy says; it's already too fuckin late if they've been published you face palm.

Quote:An Amnesty official replied to say that while the group has limited resources, it wouldn't rule out the idea of helping, according to people familiar with the reply. The official suggested that Mr. Assange and the human-rights groups hold a conference call to discuss the matter.

very kind of them

twat face responded;

Quote:Mr. Assange then replied: "I'm very busy and have no time to deal with people who prefer to do nothing but cover their asses. If Amnesty does nothing I shall issue a press release highlighting its refusal," according to people familiar with the exchange.

Later, WikiLeaks posted on its Twitter account: "Pentagon wants to bankrupt us by refusing to assist review. Media won't take responsibility. Amnesty won't. What to do?"

not so nice of twat face!

Quote:In an email Monday, WikiLeaks declined to comment on the exchange with the human rights groups.
they wouldn't would they , not after twat face made them look like pricks

and finally;
Quote:Taliban representatives have said publicly that they are searching the documents and plan to punish people who have helped U.S. forces.

Human-rights groups say they are increasingly worried about the execution of Afghan civilians by the Taliban and other insurgent groups. The Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission, or AIHRC, published figures this week showing that such executions have soared in the first seven months of this year, to 197, from a total of 225 in all of 2009.

In a phone interview, Nader Nadery, senior commissioner of the AIHRC, said the civilians executed are often people who support the Afghan government, or their family members. Some of these people "may have come into contact with the U.S. or other international forces," he said.

He said the AIHRC signed the letter to WikiLeaks. He said he and his colleagues "appreciate the efforts by WikiLeaks" to highlight some previously unreported aspects of the war, but worry that "having the names of the individuals with the location of their village and specific info about them...will enable the Taliban to develop another hit list."

CIVIC, OSI and ICG also confirmed that they signed the letter. Erica Gaston, program officer for OSI's Afghanistan-Pakistan regional policy initiative, said: "Our concern was that the Taliban had announced it was going through the data looking for names and that it would begin targeting that. It's a very real threat that they're making. They have demonstrated over and over that if they have the name of someone that has in any way been affiliated with the international community, they will find them, they will kill them in most cases."

They better renew that warrant, before there are little Julians running around all over the free world.
yes i can't see such a news hound fabricating such a story to get air time for himself and wikileaks? in fact isn't it the most plausible storyline.

he colludes with two tarts he knew, for them to do what they did so he can say "the pentagon are behind it" ? lets face it it was a no loss game for him.
if anything he was the only one to really benefit by getting his name i lights again. you said it yourself about how to smear a hero? just put him in with the conspirators and you have a plan

along with his mouth.

for some snot nosed prick (if he did say it) to say amnesty international prefer to cover their asses does sort of diminish what the leaks are about. of all the orgs' out there, amnesty international is one of those, i along with many others admire most. the whole concept of amnesty international is based on outing the truth where human rights have failed.

Julian Assange applies for Swedish residency
what has that got to do with anything. a deceitful person may say the failed rape charge would help him get his permitWink if touchstones links are to be believed; it would seem even the guys at wikileaks don't support how he's acting.

In the end, the US got what they wanted. His reputation is smeared amongst some people, if not the majority. The blog articles are proof of that. Confused

maybe but in the main people don't really care who he is or what he does. and the same goes for wikileaks, which is a real shame.

it was revoked.

I'm not too surprised. Foreign pressure to revoke it must have been heavy.

And wikileaks is undergoing maintenance Sad.

of course they couldn't have made this decision on there own could they.
the only thing the swiss have to worry about are the banks and the swiss army and i can't see the usa doing anything different about either.
i'd say they disallowed his residency for the same reason as most other countries would. they don't like what he does. they possibly realized that if he gets any info on the swiss he won't think twice about publishing in for the fame.

the swiss army is fine and the swiss banking system will slowly be brought in line with the rest of world. assange won't and i doubt has change that.
as for wiki being off line for maintenance; now that i can put down to pressure from the usa. pressure against some of those in wiki in particular.

i hope they're back up and running soon btw.

seems like the swiss are after his ass again,

Plenty of people saying he shouldn't be in wikileaks.

It worked - they have destroyed his reputation.

i tend to agree with those people. as the face of wiki l he sucked.

there was no need to respond or inform through the media the feelings of wiki leaks or what it had done, it's all over the home page.

i've much more respect for the ones who work quietly behind the scenes. i just got the impression he was in it for the fame more than the cause. personally i think he destroyed his own reputation with his own ego. if he actually had a reputation to destroy in the first place.

i don't agree that wiki should have shown all the files it did but i'd sooner have that than them not show anything. they don't in my mind need a spokesman, they have only to post something and it travels the world through the internetz in a jiffy bag.

they caught one of the ddos attackers in sweden. according to cnn, i have no source.
and it also seems the ddos attacks are a failure. the couldn't do amazon and all the other sites are okay. the attackers put it down to not having enough people attacking.

i think if they have caught one of them and he gets a stiff sentence. a lot of thos who are ddossing will think twice before doing it again. for many it was just a joke or prank. at the end of the day ddos attacks are a crime (i think) many young kids don't expect to get caught.
