The oldest creature ever
(that we know of)
was a mollusk
that lived Over 500 years in relative peace
at the cold bottom of the Icelandic Atlantic
until it was dredged up
by research scientists
investigating climate change.
It was cracked open
to accurately determine its age
in the process ensuring
it wouldn't get any older.

In the Pando grove
The trees here grow so close entwined
it's hard to find a path between.
Not one of them grew from a seed,
they've had no sex since humankind
began to notice things like that.
Their seeds are fertile, planted out
but they themselves were never sprouts -
they're clones the parent tree begat.

Quote: What should you do with a 500 year old clam?
It depends on how it smells.

Eh - the poem's cool either way and the site makes us read posts in reverse order, I would just have liked to see this poem in the clones thread.
