Under the weird vacillating
peach light of false dawn,
I’m driving towards home,
on a street called “Brodie”.
Perhaps named after the farmer
whose land was plowed under
with asphalt and concrete.
I pass the eponymous “Brodie Mart”,
it’s name in neon’s red glow,
except for the B-R-O
which has somehow burnt out,
so that now it reads “DIE MART”.
I wonder if it is a rebellion against
the American capitalistic system,
or whether the owners simply
have failed in their commercial endeavor
to take advantage of “the system”,
and thus are unable to fix the sign.
I wonder whether fixing the sign
would help or hurt business?
Considering the populaces current
fascination with the macabre
people might find it attractive.
Although it is also in the middle
of the so called “Bible Belt”
so there would be those who
would at the least see it as a sin,
or worse, it houses a dark and evil
Satanic cult there within
it’s concrete block walls.
Let the witch-hunt now begin!
Regardless, I know for a fact,
it has given at least one person a chuckle.

We must pass through Die Mart
on our way to heaven,
pick up a few last items
we'd neglected to attain,
a bowl for our sweet reward,
maybe a spoon.

Beautiful ella,
you need not travel with this man,
wherever you happen to be
is heaven.

Yes, you can buy the Kiss Casket at Die Mart for $3,299. The deluxe model has a built in call button in case you spontaneously rise from the dead.

Sorry, I don't speak German any more, I gave it up for lint. A bad trade now I'll admit since my vacuum cleaner broke.
You're a slippery one milo, but I'm still not letting you off the hook.

Hey, I'm pissed. I was all ready to buy, but it said nothing about a call button.

How come world-lingo translates die mart to Würfelhandelszentrum.

They're turning die into cube. Maybe we should pick up some ice at the Die Mart just in case it's not toward heaven we're headed.

Actually it's "der markt", not "die mart" although "die" is also the article "the" in German. However, we must let milo have his fun. If you pinch him to hard he explodes.

Thanks Dale. Good news Marcella, der markt sells mangelwurzel which rhymes with Würfelhandel.

 That would be Handelwurfel.

My step mutter was from Cologne.
She would say, Vell, it's sex o'clock,
and my girlfriend, (who was soon to be my ex-wife) and I would say, Great!
She taught me a song, but would never let me sing it.
I never knew what it meant, but I liked it,
it had a catchy tune. Just makes you want
to join in, or join up, or stick your arm out.
Maybe do some duck-stepping, like Chuck Berry.
"Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles
uber alles in der Welt!"
I found my thrills
on ihr uber hills!
or was that her high hills
what do you have to say about it Mr. Underhill?
