No Muse Allowed (inspired by Brownlie poem more alcohol)
#1
.

If you are feeling down, depressed,
or simply not amused,
and don’t want the hangover blight
you get from drinking booze.
No muse is allowed to feel inspired
and though this may sound silly,
put down your cup, then pick hose up,
and have a suck of “BILLY”!

Oh, you must be referring to a beer-bong of Billy Beer. Didn't that fade away with the President Carter Administration?

No..taint. This is referring to the rule that came from the freedom in poetry thread that the word, "muse" can no longer be used, and instead the word "BILLY" shall be used to describe that which inspires, although one drawback with this new nomenclature is that inspiration only comes in spurts! Hysterical

This is exactly what you get when your inspirationist is "BILLY".
Many years ago I pledged fealty to my dearest Thalia and I shall
ever remain her ardent supplicant.

Though I have to admit I harbor a certain fondness for this poem
(and its progenitor as well).

It never sold that well. A considerable stock of it is purported
to exist, stored in an undisclosed peanut warehouse on the
outskirts of Plains, Georgia. I had a can once, wasn't that bad.

The beer isn't that bad, as long as you strain out the buck teeth that you often find floating around in it! Smile

Thanks Ray, and Chris.

double dactyl just for this thread-

Stammery stonery
essence of cannabis
sweet on my lips as I
toke on the bong

Breathing in deeply
my mind starts to singing-
paraphernalia
bubbling along...

Well... if you suck on Billy, there's no doubt you'll get "essence of cannabis".HystericalHysterical

His skin is hash, his blood is oil,
no more trouble, bubble, boil.
His blood is oil, his skin is hash,
just smoke yourself a little dash...

Very nice!

the WA Senate election was just on - i voted for the HEMP (Help Eradicate Marijauana Prohibition ) party. The Liberals here suck - I want them out. I would have voted greens but a party for pot smokers was just too tempting.

What's the laws re pot in Texas? I've seen some documentaries on the Californian medical usage legalization, but has any state actually allowed its use recreationally?

I must say i was impressed by Billy's avatar - he did start young didn't he?

I believe in Washington State, and Colorado it is now legal. In Texas it is called, Loco Weed, except in those places where it is grown, then it is called local weed. Legalize pot in Texas, I think not. We just recently got rid of the "Blue Laws", which kept people from buying liquor on Sundays. You still can't buy or sell alcohol in the town I grew up in, and until recently it was a sin...er law that you couldn't even transport it into town. Texas is like Australia in a lot of ways, but it has also been mostly Bible Thumpers who have been the pioneers, and a lot of the churches still see drinking, along with dancing as a sin.

Q: Why can't southern Baptist have sex standing up?

A: it might turn into dancing!

Hysterical very funny

I wonder if other state will follow their example? It's not legal here - South Australia has the laxest laws I'm told, but it's still an offense just to have an implement (used) here.

Don't really like breaking laws but when they're ridiculous what can you do?

In the NT there are aboriginal communities that have banned alcohol on their turf... its usually decided by the elders. People still sneak it in tho.

Having laws agin' it is just nonsense. You can't keep people from using the stuff. It promotes organized crime, and puts upstanding users in prison and they come out criminals. 60% of all convicts in Texas are in prison on crimes related to drugs.

60% that's a lot sounds like a police state- no idea what the percentage is in Oz. Loved your poems, well done with them -but it's 2.30am here I'm off to bed. Ta for the chat

Once a jolly swagman camped beside old billy's bong
under the shade of a Kool-aid tree
and he sang as he wanked and then he burst old billy's boil
"who'll be a pus-ridden pox hag like me?"

Guess it must be just me who doesn't equate being drunk or high with being inspired. Everything I've ever conceived -- including my children -- has been done in a stone cold sober state. Maybe that's why I'm not famous.
It could be worse

Is the last line a rhetorical disconnect? I note that you tried to avoid this observation by omitting any punctuation after "boil".Hysterical
