Inspired by the Reverend Bill from the Church Of No Shopping!

Hi

I suspect that this seasonal offering is related to Christmas shopping and fundamental religious teachings. Commercialism has occluded the meaning of Christmas to a point where the true message is lost. This "tongue in cheek" poem is a warning and a reminder of our pagan, materialistic leanings.

I will forego the "meaning" and speak to the writing. I might make some revisions...input only, bin at will.
Clothed in sin
I am off to the city. ( how sinful are these clothes?)

Bad is how I am,
and my bad
just don't sit pretty.

of my eternal reward.

There are some punctuation issues. Where is sin city?

I must agree with you regarding the access of mind altering drugs. I have never done drugs (other than margarita's, yum) but am a witness to addictions devastation. Still, I know addicts will get their fix one way or the other.

There isn't anything to this but an idea with nothing to back it up. It's a boring piece of nonsense. Is that your intention?

A problem with constantly spouting second-hand ideas is that when it comes to your own creative writing you might end up with empty claptrap, hoping that someone will confuse lines like

and my leanings
lead toward,

The expression of
all that is untoward:
which in Sin City,
is just the beginning
of my eternal reward

for something meaningful.

but in my case I care not what you hurl in my direction, I've been writing poetry for too long to be affected by what is written about it by self imposed authorities of the written word.

and for my comments on my own work - I quite like it, its not my most profound piece of writing; just a bit of fun really! but some poets do take themselves far too seriously!!! you either like it or don't - simple really!

now I'm off to the confessional........hehe

You claim not to be affected and not to care but your amount of exclamation shows otherwise.

You couldn't have posted one of the more profound ones so none of this would have happened?

Then post and stop wasting time trying to save face.

Maybe your other poems are better.

Come along gentle folk....let us stick to poetry. These minor irritants come and go, fortunately they go one more time than they come, and though we all may learn how not to write poetry in these skirmishies it is the wrong ethos and gives the site a bad name.

If I didn't have issues to sort out within I wouldn't bother with poetry. And I definitely wouldn't bother with posting online. Or maybe I'd simply enjoy the benefits of the Disneyland poetry sites where all is one whether someone seriously discusses their poems or not.
