Wolf

My last words,
Who knew they would be so shitty?

I robbed a grocery store.
I killed two people.
I drove off in a cloud of smoke.
I shot at the cops.
I got shot.
I made the news.
I healed quickly.
I looked badass on TV.
I didn't say a word in trial.
I didn't flinch when they sentenced me.
I handled it all with the poise,
The confidence,
The indifference,
The coolness of a wolf in a world of sheep.

A week into my sentence,
I kept my composure.
I walked tall, my chin held high.

A wolf amongst wolves, I settled into a routine.
I grew comfortable.
My cage protected the world from me.
You should thank it!

But what good is a wolf without sheep?
I grew tired.
A caged wolf is no more a wolf than a virus is a virus without a host.

All good things must come to an end.

So I hanged myself, and before I did, I uttered these words:

"Sheep, I hope this won't make me shit my pants."

I watched "Bonnie and Clyde" again the other night. I hadn't seen the movie for a really long time. Your poem reminded me how good that movie is.

Really liked this. Kind of an "up yours" as the movie fades.

Thanks for the read.
