A Soul at Rest
#1
Tonight I must sleep
I must escape before my body starts to wither
as a convict of my curious soul.
myself.
The intermittent moments of reverie,-
how it would, like a pale crescent moon, dip in and out
of heavy strands of rain-promising clouds…
But mostly she leaves my sanity hanging on a single spider silk.

Tonight I, with tired eyes and shaky hands,
exile from the city of silence
and plunge myself deep into the lukewarm waters
of the hum-drums of familiar naked chatters,
the weirdly soothing, unceasing laughter of the drugged,
the sound of our sizzling burdens as they hit a hot pan,
John Lennon singing about his frustration at the world.

Tonight I let the darkness,
the psychedelic tunes of brilliantly confused musicians,
and the sounds of my people,
synchronize into a melody I longed for,
as each note cradles my troubled soul into deep sleep,-
A short break from this never-ending road
I’m exhausted from running on.
They sail me away from the dense,
murky forest of thoughts
I had gotten so lost in.
