My brother, with his friend, had stolen bread - Help Analyzing??
#1
TItle: My brother, with his friend, had stolen bread

Our father,
worried his character
Was broken, feared a criminal,
Lack of conscience, growing. Aware
His belt no longer inflicted sufficient
Pain, practiced, adjusting the oil stove
Flame. When he felt enough control,
He pronounced: "If your right hand
Offend you, cut it off." Daddy loved
Theatricals. He played a female lead
In the orphanage production of the
Pirates of Penzance, bragged that he
Looked like Gregory Peck in To Kill
A Mockingbird. I watched. Breathless.
Witness. Unaware I'd be trapped forever
In that moment. He drew the small hand
In out and quickly, working against
The steady pule of flame. Proud
Of his cunning, not burning or scorching.
He delivered the fear of eternal hell-fire,
Angered,
that evil could live on so easily.

Help with interpreting the poem?

What is this, today's homework assignment? Did you write this yourself or is it someone else's work? Perhaps the title of the poem is: Help with analyzing this poem? Maybe this is just a rhetorical question. Am I wasting my time asking you questions? Do you know that you can't post here until review someone's peice first? Did you read the site rules?

Certainly you have no sense of humor or sense of responsibility.

Ha, certainly you are very judgemental and have nothing better to do with your time. Please leave this post so I can get the help I came to find.

It seems that the father's waist was getting thinner, so his belt wasn't as tight as it used to be. That's why he cunningly heats the bread without taking it out of the brother's hand; so he can fatten himself back up enough to play the fat dame in the pirate play.
The whole Gregory Peck hallucination was a result of the speaker's not getting enough oxygen to his brain during his breathless episode.
Now the father can blame his criminal impulses on his need to be the appropriate size for his theatrical roles. The stress of his worries got to him. Or maybe he was just a true method actor, in some sense or another.

Whose poem is this? If it's yours, why do you need help analysing it? If it's not yours, you need to acknowledge it.

And regardless, you need to follow the rules of the forum. Feedback is important here.
