Learning to speak Texan:  Lesson #15

Texan: (north-central dialect with western lilt)

Tha gurl is veery inneresting an pertie ta'boot.

Ah donno whay ya sai tha, imma jus as inneresting an pretie as shey'as.

English:

That girl is very interesting and pretty.

I don't know why you say that, I'm just as interesting and pretty as she.

Idiom of the Day:

ta'boot = also   Origin obscure. The phrase "to boot" originally appears to have meant to get something started, as: "laits boot this partee inder rear" (note: the direct article "the" can change by what follows it. As in this case, because the following word starts with an "r" the normally used "da" changes to "der". However there is no rule that governs exactly when these changes will apply. We call these irregular articles). It is uncertain, although there are many theories, as to how this idiom evolved to what it means today. Certainly the fact that it is nearly always used in a positive sense may provide some amount of enlightenment if other facts come to light.

Syntax: It is almost a rule that a sentence in Texas end in a preposition.

I question what is so "Texan" aboot it? - "To boot" is a very common idiom here in the igloos of Ontario and I expect in many other places. Do all Texans have solipsism in their DNA? Are all your sights calibrated so far right?
I dunno,

Cash or gold will do. If you choose cash, the amount of cash necessary to purchase 1 ounce of gold in the week you are ordering the course, gold is simple one troy ounce of gold. Recognized bullion and coins are sufficient. We also accept bit-coin.

I recall a professor of mine consistently reinforcing to the class that there dialects and languages are the same thing (regardless of who has the army and navy). By this logic, Texan would be different language than my native New Yawk tongue.
