I'm having trouble telling which syllables are to be stressed if any one has got some pointers on learning how to tell what is stressed I'd like to know. Words like "through" "Me" and "my" confuse me.

Stresses rarely occur in isolation -- many words have stresses that vary depending on what they're surrounded by.
Start with the meter. Get the beat in your head first and you'll have much less trouble.

as has been shown many times, i'm shite when it comes to meter, but nonetheless i'll chip in.
given the right circumstance many words that are unstressed can be stressed depending on their intent am i could have the I as stressed and through the heaving rains could have through as stressed. same as with it's me i tell you i think i'm right but can't be 100% sure about the fact ![]() |
