Quite right. No we shouldn't, and could not agree with your sentiments more. I would have perhaps put in more fucks.
Having said that, I'm perfectly happy to help those members of ours who are still at school and who have contributed well to the workshop environment. More than happy, in fact.
It could be worse

to help (if i can) members who are at school etc that post feedback is one of the reasons we're here i think, but it needs to be reciprocal. i'm hoping some of the newbs who read this will either fuck orf or stay and leave feedback pro rata.

I would have no problem helping people with their school work. I like helping people. Also, i usually end up learning more than they do!!

that's all well and good as long such help doesn't install a "let's go to pigpenpoetry" meme in order to get homework done because we don't have to give feedback,
i just banned someone who posted 6 poems today in the space of 7 hours without giving feedback, 5 in for fun and one in mild crit. these people have no intention of joining in the site exchanges.
we've also see a glut of members who have more than one account, while we're okay with it, we'll be checking out if anything needs to done, so far we have one person who has 5 accounts which seems over the top

I'm feeling sick about the whole mess, and now I've got some gliche that deletes my text every time I try to line by line. My whole life is going to shit, while being invaded with homework. I helped my siblings enough when I was young, as well as my offspring. Those who crit (or give feedback) are ok with me.
I want to do more crit; but I'm limited right now, and that depresses me. no idea, some use a couple of nics in order to have a standby should they not be able to access the site etc if one nic goes down.
after the feedback you give, i would gladly help if i could.
can
can't do anything with the text thing though, sounds like a keyboard prob. try it in notepad, see if it's the same, if it is then it's prob your k/board that needs sorting out due to overloaded buffering
I never even did my own school work. Sometimes pretty girls coaxed me into writing essays and reports for them. But that's different.
If anyone is ever interested in the types of reports I made for these girls, see my report on ants, in the Sewer, I made for JustCloudy...
She was smart enough not to.

good post lara.
we have a few here still in school or uni and i'm fine giving them feedback because they do join in by way of giving their share of feedback. i agree, it's the ones who join, dump their questions on us and piss off, that are problematic. any participating member is welcome to use discussion or any other forum to ask questions of look for help.

Maybe find out what the person knows and doesn't know about the subject matter/question at hand and gently steer them in the right direction for their answer. Perhaps that answer is in a helpful link or an example or a combination of both.
What I don't like to see is when the person requesting help just blusters in to a place new to them after a quick google search, asks for help, and never returns after posting those one or two times or even thanks the people who have helped out.
I think most times contributing members see this is happening because their responses to the poster tend to reflect it.
Though there have been times in other places where I have felt bad for a person who has done some research first and seems courteous, but after mentioning "homework" they get blasted.
It's just one of those controversial things, I guess.

why not? the internet helped me kick ass at speech and debate my senior year. good times all the times. school is a joke, to me. i'll treat it as such
Laura you raise an awesome point. art should be taking more seriously; not as a way to get a grade on the ACT. cause i write art and english was my lowest score.
Lara, you also raise an excellent point. art is subjective i guess to the person with a pen.
