one option is to wait for lots of feedback and do an edit if you think it warranted, then leave it a month or so and go back to see if there's any more feedback. Geoff i think prefers the gradual edits which lead him and his poetry to where it wants to be. there's no real way, it's just that having something to weigh it against stops us looking like idiots for liking something we previously decried
