A 17-year old honor student was jailed and fined in Texas for missing too much school (in Texas, that's 10-days in six months). The judge completely ignored the extenuating circumstances: the girl is a breadwinner working two jobs, one full and one part-time, to financially support her siblings after they were all abandoned by their parents. She admits that because of it some mornings, she is too tired to make it to school on time; other days, she misses classes.
