As we today hold in such disdain the idea of the "author's vision", such vision must always resolve into the pervert, and thus Daisy Danger must have her pound of flesh to pay for the pervert's future sadism. I suppose that for such an idea, the form of the hard-boiled dick novel is an appropriate vehicle for it's transportation.
