Billy, I would not have the temerity to up-braid another member. Perhaps it is interesting that the term used for men, has also been adopted for what is quite a different thing (unless Mark is right, and I have been missing SOOOOOOOOO much!)
In a way, I suppose, the fact that I do not know what it would have been like to have been left intact, explains a lot: the Egyptian man has no idea what he is missing or what he and his people, have deprived his wife of; and nor does the woman, once the dangerous, painful, ritual is over, have any idea of what she is missing (otherwise she to would be SOOOOO furious!) It seems to be a case of 'Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do --- but stop them fucking doing it!'
