A Poem for Ray

"wichita falls? well, there's your problem right there. hell, that's more okie than texas."

Go say that in a bar in Wichita Falls and see what happens, those cowboys and rednecks don't have much of a sense of humor about that sort o' thang. We use to have a law that said we could shoot an Okie if we saw one crossing the Red River after sundown...in fact we use to have the right to shoot a lot of people, but they took all those law out at the same time they voted away our right to succeed. It's been downhill ever since. Sad

I hate to break the news to you but Baytown is still a part of Mexico, we just never had the heart to tell you guys because we know how much you wanted to be part of Texas, but as you don't like Texas I guess it's OK to tell you. It's probably why you keep calling yourself a "Texian". I guess you knew you were a Mexican all along! Everything from I-10 on south on that little puny-inch-chala actually belongs to Mexico, but I guess they're too afraid to come and claim it. Of course they may not want it because it smells so bad. You know I have a Park there off of Ward and Taylor called "Dale Street Park". Yeah I built a little baseball field there a long time ago and donated the land to the city cause I felt sorry for 'em being Mexican and all. I thought I'd help out by giving 'em a little culture. Doesn't seemed to have done much good. Sad
I also loaned that Nate Lynch some money to start up his ferry business, that SOB never has paid me back. I used to have a part interest in the Humble Oil company, and we had a number of wells there in the town of Goose Creek. That's how I came to own that land I donated. I was there inspecting the wells and got in a poker game with Ashbel Smith. He'd run out of money and put up that little piece of property. The damn fool had me beat, but I bluffed him out of it because he was afraid to put up anything else in order to call me. He was a terrible poker player; his right eye always twitched when he was bluffing, plus he was a bit henpecked and was always worried his wife was gonna come bustin' in. Easy pickins that!

"your right, sam houston used 'texians' and he was an illegal alien."

Sam Houston was not a Texan, if he were a Texan he wouldn't have been late to the Alamo! He was a Sam come lately and a fucking politician! Besides the word "Texian" applies specifically to those non-Texans who fought in the Texas Revolution and kicked the ass of ole one legged Sanny Anny. Texian today refers to those poor souls who think they live in Texas, but actually live in Mexico. As Mexico is so slipshod about taking care of its property, we go ahead and do it for them but keep quiet about it so as not to embarrass those poor Mexican people. Smile That's one of the things that makes Texas great, is that we have a long history of being philanthropic, like helping out you poor Mexicans that even your own country doesn't want. Well maybe one day they'll come claim you and you can go back to living in the red, white and green, then you won't seem so out of place hating Texans and all.

How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.
