Don't be silly, David. For the most part, meter is exactly the same in any English-speaking country. Occasionally, accent causes people to elide or skip syllables (eg ce-me-ter-y vs ce-met-'ry), and rhymes will be different for some words (grass doesn't always rhyme with ass), but these are tiny differences that don't take much effort to get used to.
