It's a zero chance anyone can make any money off poetry. I miss the good old days where poets were apreciated, the good old days which of course,I wasn't alive but I miss them! You could definatley try to publish a novel, it's a better shot then poetry. Just make sure you put hot girls and vampires in it, then it'll be a hit!

Yeah poetry, sadly, is a a dead end these days. Though it's never been a stable career. Reminds me of a passage from an ancient Greek play, where one character asks another "are you a poet?" and he points to his rags and replies "yes, can't you tell?"
And to be a financially successful novelist, you have to dumb yourself down to the level of Twilight readers. Hot girls and vampires strangely do sell!
