years ago it was law the negro's were chattel (property) now if you try that you get charged with slavery, kiddnapping, and a few other crimes. the law changed. we can change unjust laws sometimes.
often we can change them simply by talking about them. a few years ago the girl would have had her hand chopped off as it was the offending article. now she gets lashed, who knows, if enough people talk about it for long enough the next girl may only get 50 lashes and the one after her 5.
being a law doesn't always mean it's fair or just.
