A sweet programming software package, in the same vein as Microsoft Visual studios.

Net Beans
It's got support for Java, C/C++, Ruby, and more. You just need JDK.

XAMPP
Another version of Apache, but this one has a GUI that's comprehensive. You don't really have to edit any configuration files.
