Haha yes indeed, why should only heroes and epic events get odes? Odes for all!

I love the poem, and the meter does seem solid. I know you did not ask but I am trying to get a handle on scansion so I gave a try at figuring out your meter, I shall spoiler it since this is not a criticism channel, but perhaps you could let me know if I am even remotely in the right ballpark?

I've traced his face uncounted times.

Forever changing back.

Lost among historic peers,

or pilled in a stack.

His friendship earned is same as saved.

To me it looks pretty regular, mostly iambic, with tetrameter starts and trimeter for the rest of the stanzas, except perhaps line 3, which is mostly tetrameter but you have a couple of trimeter ones too, so I am not sure which is the pattern, tetra-tri-tetra-tri, or tetra-tri-tri-tri. I see lots of Pyrrhic, whihc could just be an accent thing, idk. All in all, a hell of a lot more regular than my efforts ever are ::joy::

It uses a lot of Iambic Trimeter 
I am really only beginning to understand meter in terms of feet dee Dum etc....
Mainly i just go with what feels good.
