Sea glass
You flinched when he waved his arms
a bright green bottle, drifting on a dark ocean,
heavy is the storm and rough the rocks
that kept you at the bottom,
always churning.
She followed your footprints,
found her girl Friday,
driftwood hair and sea salt lips,
pulled you from beneath the sand.
Hands bound by seaweed, you vowed to breath
When you look to the ocean now,
only the glint of sunlight can play
with the pale pastel shards in your skin,
a glittering armour that lets life in.
