2nd Annual Poems About Pets Month
#2
Pussycat Love

You don’t come
       how I want
            your purr of a voice
                        body lithe, wishing.
I wait willing
            only a lonely in-vain offering.

Staying at fingertip’s distance
            watching
your eyes of amber wonder,
“Am I prey
            or predator?”

A conversation we’ve had before.

As a reticent sea succumbs
to the waning moon brings
            a careful caress
eyes slitted with pleasure, a body humming.

Moments stolen
            I know
not to have
            only given
Still, I feel
            the thrill of surrender
not knowing
            when sharp things might come.

Thought I would get things started with a revamped version of a previous poem I never posted.
