Hey TqB,
I really like this, your mixing the history with the soccer game.  "V is for Vendetta" is one of my favorite movies, which is how I know about the history.  I know, typical American.  I think the last two lines really work but, to be honest, not sure why.

Thanks for the read!  I only knew the history because I looked it up after the game, and that inspired the poem.  Prior to that, the most I knew was John Lennoon's reference in his song "Remember".  It was quite eerie though, watching the game played in fog while it seemed a war was going on just outside the stadium.
