Maybe there was more to the story but people say they'll kill themselves all the time. I don't believe the girl should have been punished by the state, if she had told him to , and he not done it, no problem. If someone says they'll kill themselves apparently and you don't help them then you are an accomplice, or something. I argued that musicians that tell you to, like this bloodhound gang song, would be extremely liable if someone said it was because of this song. Some TV Network is making a series about this girl.I truly see where you are coming from. The issue is that words have power, just as a car or a gun. Words can not be used indiscriminately without consequence. Just as you can not use a gun, car or other instrument of possible destruction with absolute immunity. The first ammendment does not absolve us of responsibility. It simply means that we can not be jailed for criticizing our government. The whole premise of this forum is that words matter. Just my thoughts
My problem is in the fault. I don't believe any word should be censored, there is no authority in their words unless you give them. Your actions are not because of their words. This got me thinking about witchcraft being words. The words conjured the magic, people have always been afraid of the words, and burned for the words. They can't take responsibility, it was the words of the witch. You said the n word, your a witch, you said kill yourself, your a witch. I'm not advocating for these words to be used, I dont use them outside of reference.
I just don't like authority, or censorship.
