I have to disagree.  I've been writing poetry since 8.  From 8-14 was the forced rhyme crap plentiful with clichés. From then to about 19 was the woe-is-me crap.  It was all crap until around 19 when I got married.

all along this journey I have had many things published, and probably not due to their merit.

I'm most proud of my work the last 20 years.

so neeners, mr milo.

you'll never see me coming, dammit.
I have been writing since I was twelve, so my poetry has definitely gone through some major changes.  I used to write soppy, sickeningly syrup for poetry.  At twelve, what else do you write about?  But I truly found my writing voice in 2003 when I started my path of seeking truth.  I"m now 57, and I have found that reading has really improved my writing, for if you write of something you know nothing about, you're going down a slippery slope.  I write rhyming or near-rhyming couplets most of the time, but I have been known to write without it as well.  I do use the archaic language when writing spiritual poetry, for I feel you show respect and reverence in using the 'higher' speech.  I much prefer to write in story form, so at times I do not even call my poetry, poetry, but epic prose in rhyming verse.   Just my two cents worth.

Peace out....
