Interim

There's a chasm.
I notice the emptiness
like I'm waking for the first time,
my eyes fixated
on the clock
that has hands
that seem as if they don't move.


Will they ever move?


It's not the absence alone
that is taking it's toll on me,
but the sudden realization
that I'm stuck in a place
where I don't know what the future holds
and the silence grows
like a Venus fly trap This simile is a bit of a stretch.
and I,
I am that fly
and I worry that the silence
will lead up to the doors of death
right before I enter the mouth
of the Venus fly trap.


Must I sit in my mind
in confines
waiting for him, Who is him?
as time
marches forward
revealing my slow and agonizing fate?


I have too much time on my hands
and not enough happening to the fill the interim.

The progression of this story is somewhat all over the place, focusing on many subjects at the same time; although, I like the introspective nature of it. I suggest some slight revisation. It would help this story to "pop" out.
