Mark is likely right about the "golden hour." It was past sunset but not long. I posted it around 10 so my initial view was probably between 8:30 and 9:30 - so it makes sense.(09-22-2021, 10:21 PM)TranquillityBase Wrote: Hey Mark,Hey Tim-
Not sure how we saw the same moon (Tiger and I) since we are significantly separated in space, but that night (here) it was cloudy and the crescent had a distinct yellowish tint to it.

The phase of the moon will be the same, and appear approximately the same across the world (adjusting for latitude).
My guess is that this observation was made during that "golden hour" near sunset when the sun shining through the atmoshere makes the moon appear larger and yellower. This year, at any time of night, with all the wildfires around the world, high altitude smoke could be a factor, as well.
(I also like the gigantic full moon sinking on the horizon as the sun rises in summer.)
All that said, I find these observations fascinating. So, thanks again Paul.

I used crafty because it looked like an elaborate trap... a worm dangling on an invisible hook.
