Cicadas

Man, Tim, the 17 year Brood X cicadas are raising hell here in Virginia. It was a novelty at first, but it wears on you pretty quickly.  I like driving with my windows down, and they'll fly right in and buzz like crazy.  Good thing that we only have a couple more weeks of this invasion to go (HA, HA).  When you're outside there ain't no 'nother choice than living with em, but I do declare that they get me every time when they fly right in my face.

Their flesh is not petty,
is not flesh. Still, they're actual on some local menus. I think I'll pass and let the birds have at em. Pretty soon the birds'll be too fat to fly, and begin to fall right outta the sky.And the foxes'll be waiting...

I guess our cicadas are a different breed, annuals.  No invasion here (yet).  I've always thought that they appear wise in person and their singing is about the only thing I like about Texas in the summertime.  DC was once a swamp, right?  They are just trying to reclaim it from you human interlopers.
