Once, in English class, the teacher took off his belt while reading a poem. We weren't sure what was going to happen, but it turned out he just needed to turn it round and refasten it. One of those weird moments.
That rules from wrist to shoulder,
Unpacks the head that, like a sleepy ghost,
Leans on my mortal ruler,
The proud spine spurning turn and twist.
And these poor nerves so wired to the skull
Ache on lovelorn paper......
It's usually submerged like this, the beginning of the most obvious example, "My Hero Bares His Nerves". As Rowens says he grew out of it thanks to Caitlin Thomas.
Not his best poems, but pretty darn amazing.
