Open those Windows
In early Spring and Autumn, we leave our windows open
get a cool breeze flowing, let it gently blow in through
the curtains. Or we’ll pull ‘em back, let ‘em all fall slack
then rediscover each other deep down under the covers.
When it’s gotten hot‘n humid, as we slumber in the Summer
the rumble of the thunder makes us stumble out of bed
shutter all the windows, and pull those curtains closed.
It’s supposed to be a really weird year, from reports that I hear
so I guess I just won’t check the weather. Whether
the weather will be great, or rotten, what I’ve learned
and never forgotten, is that weather will do whatever
it wants, whether we like it or not.
