The cracked spine
of an Orwell book
is all it takes
to send me into the downward spiral.
The borrowed book cracked
and you texted me
thinking of my bibliophilia
and I texted back “cheap 70s bookbinding”.
Now I hate the book
because you thought it would matter.
It would have been OK
if you’d set it on fire
and danced around it.
