Because You Looked Pissed

I also love this poem. My favorite feature is the speaker's voice. It plays on an old trope: insensitive male partner who is always in trouble with his ball and chain. From the title, we are set up to sympathize with the narrator in the glare of the pissy woman. But the greeting card really becomes a metaphor for him as he accidentally reveals his own lack of empathy and disconnection.
