I like the first version best. It is straightforward and as far as it goes I have no criticisms. The second version 'Hug' seems to complicate things and I lost interest. The enjambments in the first version and the way the couplets are composed creates a melodious rhythm. It reads well. Maybe in another mood I might like the second version more but it seems to worked on and loses the rhythm of version 1.
