I came to that conclusion later after perusing older posts.
Members of forums come and go as the forum no longer meets its needs. So now I'm wondering what can be done here to meet the needs of members as they progress. If they left because they tired of the craft, what can be done to keep them engaged? If they left because they felt the forum no longer had the capacity to teach them, that requires a different tack. I hope you don't mind me jumping in like this; I walked away from an online poetry family some time ago, one with whom I had long ties, and it's only recently I felt the urge to find another- one which took self-development and mutual support seriously. I empathize with your feelings and admire them. If you think I'm sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong, as a n00b to this group, I'll back off and keep my mouth shut. I don't want to come off as an interfering know-it-all lol. I'd just like to see you succeed.

we tried all the things you mentioned it worked for a few years but gradually older members came and left and it was actually hard to garner new members. the mods mainly quix and i , mainly quixie actually are fine sorting out the wheat from the chaff by hand for now. thanks for the input.
