the parks were painted manic blue
with mythical birds.

My Ithacan home,
regretful seas beyond
that follow after me
with sounds of war,
where all the parks are temple choirs
in crocus blue,
flowers in the snowdrifts all
because of you.

Irises too, from near and far,
the spoils of war waged just for you,
my secret star, who leads me to
the ending of my odyssey.
