I've never understood racism, I think because it's never affected me. It's always been a joke in my social heart. I've had black rivals and white rivals. I've hated them all equally. But that's all personal. I don't see the point of hating by race. My rivalries are personal, and I suspect they have as much reason to hate me as I do in hating them.
You set yourself up against a whole group of people, why? You might as well kill yourself. . . . What's the endgame? Take out a whole race of people. For what? . . . It's just always seemed comical to me. . . . And I mean comedy in the purest sense.
And don't get me wrong, I understand race supremacy groups. They seem just as legitimate to me as Mormons and Jehova's Witnesses and Scientologists. I don't discriminate against them . . . I just say fuck em. Let them be. They're going to be anyway.
Racism? I've been around racism my whole life. In the violent heat of it. My family is racist. My friends are racist. My neighbors are racist. What does it mean? It just seems stupid to me. I grew up fighting black men. And most of them ended up friends with me. We were the same. Just a bunch of guys. . . . I refuse to accept any political usage of race, in any way. We're all trailer park flunkies here. Some have went off and become wealthy. Mostly the black guys. Most of the whites are working construction, by choice. Me, I just sit around writing poetry and offensive jokes, and try to get laid.
And in other places? Well, the cops should stop shooting people. That's all I know. . . . Is it racist? Probably. . . . But you think, there aren't truly very many intelligent and empathetic people in this world, yet there are all these positions to fill. All these positions of authority that have to be filled.
And I hope this doesn't sound racist: but the black guys were usually older, and even the ones our age were bigger and tougher. The white guys only had two guys over six foot. And they were pussies. But I was always a masochist and always stayed. . . . This shit was fun. We didn't shoot each other. We just joyfully fought. . . . But we were teenagers. It's the grownups who fuck everything up. Politcal, economical horseshit.
Not every redneck is in the trailer court, not every black boy is in the ghetto. . . . But for the ones who are, I guess nobody is really doing anything. Except buying drugs from them.
