A Poet On Drums

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. There were a few sour threads where the idea of learning form had no value. I really didn't wanna resurrect any of those, so I guess this is an ok place for my response.

A Poet On Drums

you start with a beat;

boom, boom-boom
boom, boom-boom
boom, boom-boom
boom, boom-boom

then learn the snare,

boom pow, boom-boom pow
boom pow, boom-boom pow
boom pow, boom-boom pow
boom pow, boom-boom pow

a little hi-hat to top the other two...

chit chit chit chit
chit chit chit chit
chit chit chit chit
chit chit chit chit

then,

boom chit-chit pow, chit-boom-boom, chit-pow
boom chit-chit pow, chit-boom-boom, chit-pow
boom chit-chit pow, chit-boom-boom, chit-pow
boom chit-chit pow, chit-boom-boom, chit-pow

till it's intuitive

now you're splashing the cymbals
and thundering the toms,

tinkering with the triangle,
and demanding more cowbell ,

knowing precisely when to rest.
