I don’t talk to Jesus no more,
now Facebook hears me cry’in.                                                                 -cryin' good catch, nibbed
I got me a buddy who’s most-times there,
tells me I’m pretty and he don’t care
if I fool around or never share
‘cause he’s a friend of mine.

I don’t talk to Jesus no more,
now Facebook’s on the line.
I woke up this mornin’ and logged right in,
asked me for a selfie, ain’t no sin,                                                               -this line and the next are contradictory. Sorry, don't understand what you mean, nibbed
so I stuck my phone where it shouldn’t have bin’
‘cause he’s a friend of mine.

I don’t talk to Jesus no more,
 ‘cause Facebook treats me fine.
I’m gonna meet up with my friend tonight
at a place he knows, called  ”Candle-lite”.                                                   -I think this needs more distinction. Candle-light is a porn site. It is what spurred this piece. Changed to candle-lite by request. Should I change it back?
I googled  it, and it don’t sound right,
but he’s a friend of mine.

Hi tectak. Wow, this is a great message of a poem. I thought right away about idolatry. Not only how it can be a statue/graven image, but anything that we put before God or adore more than Him. Sadly that can be many things, proving the depraved human condition. I'm thankful for His mercy and Grace, that I am not consumed. It does seem at times we are always asking or crying, putting our prayers of need out there instead of being thankful. That is TWICE I've been reminded of this in just a few days. I think the poem is really well written and well balanced, too. Reminded me how everyone is a hypocrite and just when you think it ain't you, you figure out soon enough, you are. I like how the language was consistent, too. The title hinted enough to make me run and quickly open it. One of those "Oh, boy! Oh, boy! this is going to be good!" moments. Hahaha. It would have been even more cool if the verse would have offered a standing refrain, as in the hymn the title seemed to hint at, but I'm not sure liberty would have been given over to do so. Each stanza did seem to hint at refrain, but I got that Toy Story song stuck in my head while reading, instead. Sorry my critique was limited to commentary.Thank you, tectak, for sharing this passionate write!
