You can certainly just read and use the discussion and practice threads where critiques are not necessary but take a look at the important threads of Basic and maybe you'll come to see what a valuable tool learning to critique is. I never critiqued a poem before stumbling in here but as I learned to analyze why I liked what I did and why a poem sometimes lost me I found my own writing reached for a higher goal. It's also fun to give other members a hand when they're looking to polish their poems. Up to you whether or not you want to use the site to its fullest extent.
Looking forward to reading some awesome stuff in here!
