A Thanksgiving Prayer

The '50s had a rich counterculture. In the '60s, people made the mistake of trying to make it mainstream, that is, making it political. That's what's happening now, through technology and methods more sophisticated and far-reaching. A counterculture doesn't need politics, it doesn't need leaders.

Politicized God, politicized Jesus, politicized art; now we have drugs and technology, willfully misused out of the context of politics, and some music here and there to be lost in. We need drugs without a guru and music without fashion. There we have our own dangerous will, and our nice little communities if we can find them.
