the airlines could pay the extra costs,i think a trainticket to anywhere in europe will be cheaper than put up people in expensive hotels when flights get cancelled

normally yes but it wouldn't surprise me if payments for delays due to volcanic activity will not be covered has been written into many of the airlines insurance policies.

in fairness. the volcao hasn't really stopped smoking so anyone traveling over europe should beware and expect delays, or use alternative travel. not to do so would be foolish.
