Concrete
I remember the day
you had your first beer. I paid
with the twenty we stole
out of mom's purse.
We were sitting on the patio
of Jake's Sports and Grill
talking shit under a spring sun.
This morning they found you
splayed in your own puke
on the concrete behind a boarded-up Jake's;
a bottle of gin in your wake,
a December rain trying to wash it all away.
You never talked to me.
