The Goods

burst from a baggage car like an arcane lovely linked sounds
ritual on platform 2B. People complain particular platform - is it the same one for all the bizarre goods?
that such disruptions are not in keeping
with the spirit of the community. fusty - contrasts well with the anarchy
the schedule does not alter. Liquid latex capital T needed - good linked sounds
pours out the doors of the eleven-thirty again
and denouncements are made. Locals boycott denouncements - great!
the rail service but still the carriages
come in, erupting with cheese and
wild ferrets. Staff strike but the empty 'erupting with cheese and wild ferrets' - more vivid contrasts
engines are undeterred, loads arrive; pistols, 'empty engines' good
anchors, chewing gum. Neighbourhood watch existential - pistols, anchors
sabotage the line and rip out the buffers, sabotages, rips?
nevertheless services hurtle the bent again, great attention to sounds bend or bent?
metal and plow upside down through something went awry here, probably deliberate
the polished arches. Soil and off-brand
energy drinks fill the ticket office, applauding the contrast
curtain hooks and lenticular artwork 'lenticular artwork' great
destroy the concessions stand. Soon
the assortium runs miles down the I like 'assortium' even though it doesn't seem to be a word yet
track, worlds of freight between burning
locomotives. Most residents have sold
at low prices; the town is silent save
the regular crashing of new arrivals. I like the two meanings of 'new arrivals' = both trains, and new residents
The remainers make their home in homes? why did they move from their houses?
the railway detritus, lulled to sleep
by the breaking waves of rolling stock
decimating itself on the station shores. Great images
Fountain pens, hangers, goldfish pellets,
warheads, laminate flooring, orphans,
sunrise, crocs. Boxsets, five irons,
crampons, condoms, horse hair,
paper, nunchucks; the goods. love the kaleidoscopic images in this final section.

This list poem works well for me; the contrasting images create a surreal atmosphere so the poem takes on a dream-like quality in which anything is free to happen. The 'piling up' of carriages mirrors the 'piling up' of Goods everywhere, conspicuous consumption mocked and mirrored. Well done!
