I don't crave you anymore—
I just realized.
A phrase brought your voice to mind,
and I remembered how you said before
you'd return but never did.
How easy it is to forget aches once they ease—
like a cough that finally clears,
hiccups that casually decrease—
I can't recall precisely
when they stopped.
Our rope is frayed now, worn
sufficiently thin, and I can simply
slip this knot.
